Rev Bernard Dodd was the first chairman of the North Western Homosexual Law Reform Committee (NWHLRC), which later became the Campaign for Homosexual Equality (CHE). He resigned in 1967 and was replaced by Colin Harvey. Meg Atkins remembered him as:
- "always cheerful, always smiling, always helpful. He was always very supportive, always there at committee meetings, advising and helping. And what I always loved was, when they were fixing a date for anything, … he’d get his diary out, and every page would be crammed with hundreds of things to do. He was involved in everything."
