Marriage of Same Sex Couples (Conversion of Civil Partnership) Regulations 2014
The The Marriage of Same Sex Couples (Conversion of Civil Partnership) Regulations 2014 were introduced by the Government in accordance with the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 and permit a couple in a civil partnership to convert it to a marriage. The regulations apply to England and Wales only. Conversion is a simple process, normally conducted in a register office. Following conversion, the couple are regarded as having been married on the date of the original civil partnership.
The Regulations came into force on 10 December 2014.
