Location of Ceredigion within Wales
Ceredigion is a county in south central Wales. It corresponds broadly to the ancient kingdom of the same name. From 1888 it had a county council under the name of Cardiganshire. In 1974 it became the district of Ceredigion within the county of Dyfed. In 1996 it became the county of Ceredigion.The largest town is Aberystwyth. Cardigan is the former county town.

LGBT History

The 17th-century poetess Katherine Philips, was the wife of the High Sheriff of Cardiganshire.[1]

The village of Llanddewi Brefi (under the spelling Llanddewi Breffi) featured in the TV series Little Britain, with "Daffyd", played by Matt Lucas, as the "only gay in the village".
